Oregon-Davis School Board members discussed and passed the 2023-2024 administrative stipends at a recent Oregon-Davis School Board meeting.
A stipend is a fixed regular sum paid as a salary or allowance as opposed to a gradual raise of the base pay.
The administrators will receive a $6,000 stipend for the 2023-2024 school year. The stipend was calculated by taking the average administration salary of the four administrators, $82,000 times five percent which equaled $4,100. They then added the teacher stipend of $1,250 plus $650 that the teachers receive for being highly effective. That put it around $5,900. The percentages and dollar amounts added were all equal to the increase that the teachers received, but since the administration personally work more days, the sum was rounded up to $6,000.
Oregon-Davis Superintendent William Bennett pointed out that the one thing he thought was important was that all four administrators received the same.
“My admin group is a team. Not one person deserves more than another, including me,” said Bennett.
With Board President Ben Lady being absent and Board Member Terry Minix abstaining his vote due to a conflict of interest, the board approved the 2023-2024 administrative stipends with a vote of 3-0-1.
