Starke County Police Find Suspected Meth Lab in Vehicle Following Pursuit

Two people were arrested on several drug charges following a vehicle pursuit in Starke County Thursday, May 11.

A Starke County Sheriff’s Department K9 deputy reportedly observed a driver of a white Ford Ranger make multiple traffic violations while traveling in Starke County.

The officer attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed, according to the report.  Police say the pursuit occurred for a short time until it came to an abrupt stop in the Round Lake Cemetery on S. 150 E.

During the traffic stop, the deputy, assisted by K9 partner Robby, reportedly located narcotics inside the vehicle.  Upon further investigation, a suspected active mobile methamphetamine lab and precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine were allegedly located, along with methamphetamine and other narcotics.

The Indiana State Police was contacted and a Clandestine Lab Team arrived to assist in the disposal of the methamphetamine lab.

Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
