Changes in the billing and shut off procedures for water utilities will soon be coming to the Town of Winamac.
At a recent Winamac Town Council meeting, council members were informed that the amount of payment delinquencies has gone up from about 250 homes to 350. A change to the procedure of shut-off would eliminate a vast majority of excuses made when it comes to shutting off utilities, including waiting on payday, and make it easier for the Utility Department to perform their duties.
The Winamac Town Council voted unanimously for the approval of the proposed changes. Bills will be sent out the first of the month, if the payment is not in the drop box the night before the last business day of the month, shut-offs will occur with no excuses being accepted.
