Indiana Department of Environmental Management officials have extended the Air Quality Alert through Wednesday, June 28 as high levels of fine particles continue to pollute the air from Canadian wildfires.
The alert includes all of Indiana.
Fine particles include microscopic dust, soot, and liquid that settles deep into the lungs and cannot be easily exhaled. Those people at risk are particularly vulnerable after several days of high exposure.
It is recommended that people with respiratory diseases limit prolonged outdoor exertion.
