The Oregon-Davis School Board has come to a tentative agreement with the Oregon-Davis Classroom Teachers Association at a recent school board meeting.
The school board and Teachers Association were not able to agree to terms on a collective bargaining agreement by the deadline of November 15, 2022. When this happens, a mediator is sought to bring both parties together to settle the contract.
The Teachers Association filed an Unfair Labor Practices lawsuit which claimed the school corporation failed to provide accurate financial information when requested and it affected the ability of the parties to bargain.
The goal was to bring all teachers to a $40,000 a year salary.
The first offer for a settlement was to give an extra $1,725 and the second offer was a 4.6% increase across the salary schedule. Both options would have put every teacher above $40,000 a year and both offers were declined by the Teachers Association.
A final agreement has been reached between the Oregon-Davis School Board and the Teachers Association and was signed recently.
This agreement would give a 5% salary increase and a $1,250 one-time stipend. This would take the salary range from $38,275-$60,161 to $40,189-$63,169 after the increase.
Any teacher who receives an evaluation rating of ineffective or improvement necessary in the prior school year, or has not worked at least 60 days in the 2021-2022 school year, will not be eligible for a salary increase. It was noted that there are no teachers who fall in to those two categories.
Teachers who teach one or more Advanced Placement or Dual Credit courses will also receive an annual stipend of $750 to compensate for additional training and prep time required to teach these courses. Any teacher who performs, qualifies and approves work outside of the regular school day or school year will be compensated $50 for a half day and $100 for a full day, but must be pre-approved by the building administrator.
