An inmate at the La Porte County Jail has died.
La Porte County Sheriff’s Department officials say the La Porte County EMS was requested at the jail just before midnight Saturday, July 22 to assist an inmate with an unknown medical episode.
Police say the inmate was conscious at the time and was transported to Northwest Health La Porte Hospital where the inmate subsequently died.
An autopsy is pending, as well as toxicology test results.
The incident remains under investigation.
