A mobile food pantry distribution is planned in Hamlet Thursday, July 13.
Hosted by the Starke County Community Foundation and sponsored by the Foundation’s Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana will be stationed at the Hamlet Lions Club Eat Stand at the Starke County 4-H Fairground for a drive-thru distribution from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. CT, as supplies are available.
In addition to this opportunity being offered through the Food Bank Northern Indiana, local families can also receive food from Community Services of Starke County once a month.
The food pantry at Community Services of Starke County in Knox is open on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. CT. The organization also started hosting two satellite distribution sites each month to help reach individuals who may be unable to get to the Knox site during their regular hours.
On the second Monday of each month, Community Services hosts a satellite food distribution at the North Judson United Methodist Church fellowship hall from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. CT. Individuals must call the facility to place an order the Friday before the North Judson distribution.
On the second Friday of each month, Community Services offers an opportunity to get free food pantry items in Hamlet at the Lions Club Eat Stand at the fairgrounds from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. CT. Individuals must call the Thursday prior to Hamlet’s distribution to schedule their pick-up.
If an individual picks up items from one of the satellite sites, it counts as their monthly food pantry visit.
To schedule a pick-up or to receive more information about these opportunities, call Community Services of Starke County at 574-772-7070.
