The Starke County Council discussed an ordinance to establish a fund for the receipt of solar expense funds for Starke County during their meeting last week.
Starke County Auditor Rachel Oesterreich told WKVI News the Starke County Solar Expense Fund will be used to pay various professional services. Currently, businesses that are providing engineering, survey and attorney services are billing solar companies directly.
Oesterreich stated this fund would help keep things transparent between the county, professional service providers and solar companies. The county would then be able to pay professional service providers from this fund that solar companies will use to pay Starke County with, instead of having solar companies pay for professional services directly.
A motion was made to accept the ordinance establishing a fund for the receipt of solar expense funds in Starke County. That motion was seconded and passed five to two with council members Howard Bailey and Cassandra Hine voting against the motion.
