The Starke County Commissioners and the Pulaski County Commissioners spoke of the memory of fallen EMT Michael Wilcox, Jr. during their respective meetings.
Wilcox lost his life in an accident in Starke County while responding to a call Saturday, August 5. Paramedic Brandy Salita was injured in the accident.
The Starke County Commissioners called for a moment of silence at the beginning of their meeting Monday evening to honor the memory of Wilcox. Commission President Charles Chesak also asked for thoughts and prayers for Salita’s family.
During their Monday night meeting, the Pulaski County Commissioners recognized the work done by Wilcox as he also worked as a part-time EMT for Pulaski County EMS. Commission President Chuck Mellon commented that it was quite a showing of brotherhood with the Pulaski County staff as they helped with coverage in Starke County. Pulaski County EMS Director Brandon DeLorenzo said they all pulled together during this tragic event.
The North Judson Police Department and the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department personnel expressed condolences to the Wilcox family and continued prayers to Brandy Salita and family during the North Judson Town Council meeting.
A proclamation is being drafted in Starke County to officially name a day in the memory of Wilcox.
