The 6th Annual RadioThon to benefit The Cheryl Lyn Welter Charitable Foundation will be held Thursday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT on WKVI.
The Foundation works with teachers who work with underprivileged children in rural schools by providing grants to help with the little things in a classroom which many teachers often reach in their own pockets to provide.
The RadioThon includes interviews with teachers who have received grants telling about the effect it has had in their teaching.
The effort will start on Wednesday evening at the 10-56 Brewery in Knox during their weekly Give Back Day where 20 percent of the proceeds received will go to the Foundation.
A special addition to the fund raising effort is sponsored by the Five Star Food Center. A $100 gift certificate will be given to anyone who comes into the store and donates $100 during the RadioThon.
To meet the effects of inflation and increasing needs in rural schools, the Foundation has set a goal 20 percent higher than last year’s record-setting results.
