Community Services of Starke County officials have expanded food pantry services to two satellite locations in Hamlet and North Judson.
There is an increased need for food services throughout the county and there is a hardship, in some cases, to get to the food pantry in Knox during normal business hours.
As a result, Community Services of Starke County has partnered with organizations in North Judson and Hamlet to reach those who are in need.
Satellite locations will be open at the North Judson United Methodist Church at 210 Central Avenue on the third Monday of each month, and at the Starke County 4-H Fairgrounds at 400 Division Street in Hamlet on the third Friday of the month in order for residents to more conveniently receive assistance.
The North Judson location will be open next on Monday, August 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. CT. The Hamlet location will be open next on Friday, August 25 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. CT.
The main food pantry at Community Services of Starke County is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT.
An appointment must be made at each site for assistance. Call 574-772-7070. Hamlet appointments should be made by the Thursday prior to the pick-up day on the third Friday, and North Judson appointments should be made the Friday before the pick-up day on the third Monday.
Those needing assistance can only receive food from one site per month.
