Eastern Pulaski School Corporation Superintendent Dara Chezem says the new school year has gotten off to a good start.
One thing she pointed out was the fact that the corporation is fully staffed.
“I know schools across the state sometimes are struggling with that especially this time of year, but we are fortunate not to be in that situation,” stated Chezem. “Along with that, the school board also approved increasing our substitute teacher rate. Substitutes without a license would be making $85 a day and with a license they would be making $100 a day.”
Additionally, the school board hired a new chief technology officer.
“We have done an extensive search this past school year. It started in May and had interviewed several applicants and none of them were quite meeting our needs, but one applicant finally rose above the rest with his IT knowledge and his professionalism and the ability to collaborate with our staff. We were excited this last meeting to recommend Mike Haschel for the position of chief technology officer.”
Haschel’s first day at the corporation will be today (August 21).
