The Starke County Election Board members unanimously approved and signed a resolution last week indicating no Municipal General Elections in the Town of Hamlet or the Town of North Judson in November.
Clerk Bernadette Welter-Manuel stated that the filing deadline was Tuesday, August 1 at noon CT for candidates for office in the Town of North Judson and the Town of Hamlet. It was found that there were no contested races so the candidates who filed will take office January 1, 2024.
The candidates in the Town of Hamlet include Incumbents Democrat Kristina Pitts for Clerk-Treasurer, Democrat Brian Earnest for Town Board District 1, Republican David Kesvormas for Town Board District 2, and Democrat Connie Bailey for Hamlet Town Board District 3.
The candidates in the Town of North Judson include Incumbents Democrat Andrew Rowe for Clerk-Treasurer, Democrat Jane Ellen Felchuk for Town Council Ward 1, Democrat Linda Banks for Town Council Ward 2, and Republican James Young for Town Council Ward 3.
The City of Knox is the only jurisdiction that will have a Municipal General Election on Tuesday, November 7. Those candidates include Incumbent Democrat Cindy Kidder for Clerk-Treasurer, Incumbent Democrat Sherry Cowen and Republican Tona Miller for Knox City Council-At Large, Incumbent Democrat Donald Kring for City Council District 1, Incumbent Democrat Ron Parker and Republican Travis A. Schieber for City Council District 2, Incumbent Democrat Jeff V. Berg and Republican Linda Van Norman for City Council District 3, Republican Austin Fletcher and Incumbent Democrat Bill Gustafson for Knox City Council District 4, Incumbent Republican Charles F. Hasnerl for Knox City Court Judge, and Incumbent Democrat Dennis Estok and Republican Diana Kay Gudeman for Knox City Mayor.
