The North Judson-San Pierre School Board discussed a Special Education Shared Services agreement when they met last week.
Superintendent Kelly Shepherd, who is new to the administrative position at North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation, commented that he is attempting to get up to speed on the terms of the agreement and will be collaborating with newly hired Knox Community School Corporation Superintendent Greg Mikulich and Oregon-Davis School Corporation Superintendent Bill Bennett to review the paperwork.
With the dissolution of the JESSE Special Education Cooperative, Shepherd said the three county schools will be working together to offer similar programming to those students who have benefited from the JESSE program.
“We will be functioning as our own county-wide cooperative,” said Shepherd. “Some programs will be housed at each one of our facilities. We’re coordinating that transportation piece and how to share so that we maximize our resources so it functions a lot like the old JESSE Co-op, but it’s just going to be smaller and just across our county.”
He said he believes the smaller cooperative will improve efficiency.
More discussions on the agreement and logistics will be held in future meetings.
