The Starke County Commissioners discussed bids for a heating and cooling project on the second floor of the Starke County Courthouse.
Starke County Maintenance Director Ricky Green submitted the bids for the project to the commissioners. The heating and cooling project will address the Clerkâs Office, records area, commons area, child support office, and small claims office.
Green recommended the bid from Comfort Express as the bid included electrical wiring. Green noted that it would cost the county a more significant amount if the service was not already included. The entire project cost for each zone was $110,500.
The commissioners commented that the funding could come from American Rescue Plan Act funds as it addresses air quality concerns as initially outlined in the regulations of the funding. Green will take that recommendation to the Marshall County Council members during their August 21 meeting for formal approval.
A time frame was not given on when the project will start.
Additionally, the commissioners approved a $2,000 quote from RC Tree and Stump Removal for the eradication of trees at the warehouse building. The commissioners commented that they hope that project can start as soon as possible.
