The Starke County Commissioners have signed a proclamation designating August 19 as “Mike Wilcox – A Celebration of Life Day”.
Wilcox lost his life in a tragic traffic accident in Starke County August 5 while responding to a medical call in his capacity as an EMT.
The proclamation recognizes Wilcox’s life as a loving husband, father and grandfather, a pillar of the Starke County community, and a friend to many. It also recognizes that Wilcox dedicated his life to emergency service as a firefighter, EMT, reserve law enforcement officer and Sheriff’s Posse member.
The proclamation notes that the community of Starke County, and his family and friends, recognizes Wilcox’s sacrifice and general joy of life.
A Celebration of Life Service for Wilcox is planned for today (August 19).
