A Knox man was arrested by detectives with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday, September 14 on charges related to internet child exploitation.
An investigation resulted in the arrest of 41-year-old Patrick R. Jenkins of Knox. The investigation began in mid-July and was a collaborative effort between Starke County Detectives and agents with the FBI.
Police say the FBI became aware of internet conversations between Jenkins and an underage female. During these conversations, Jenkins is alleged to have solicited this individual for sex. Agents with the FBI contacted local authorities and shared information with Starke County detectives, according to the report.
Upon completion of the investigation, contact was made with Jenkins at his residence and he was taken into custody.
Jenkins is charged with a Level 4 Felony count of child solicitation. He is currently being held at the Starke County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
