Starke County emergency responders were called to an accident Tuesday, September 5 shortly after 9 a.m. CT involving a passenger vehicle and a transport ambulance on U.S. 30 near the intersection with 1100 East.
Police say the driver of the passenger vehicle informed deputies he became tired while driving and briefly left the roadway into the median and overcorrected back onto the roadway and sideswiped the ambulance driving in the same direction. The driver and two other occupants in the passenger vehicle sustained only minor injuries from the accident.
The transport ambulance driver from Ambulance Management Service in Terre Haute and an occupant inside the ambulance also sustained no injuries in the collision.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Starke County EMS, Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, and Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department.
