The North Judson-San Pierre School Board opened a public hearing Tuesday night to start the bargaining process with the Teacher’s Association, according to Superintendent Kelly Shepherd.
“We’re excited and looking forward to a positive bargaining season,” said Shepherd. “Our union president was present and spoke and I had a few things to say, and our next steps now will be making a calendar for a few dates to meet and see what we can accomplish on behalf of our teachers.”
There were no other public comments.
Negotiations and an agreement should be in place by November 15, per state statute. The negotiation teams will come to a tentative agreement and then another public hearing will be scheduled to take comments. The final step will be to ratify the agreement by both the Teacher’s Association and the school board. The board will complete that action in a public meeting.
