The Culver Community School Board held a meeting Monday, October 16 to take public comments on the tentative teacher agreement.
Superintendent Karen Shuman said the base pay for teachers will increase $5,000 over two years ($2,500 per year) and the school corporation will take on a four percent increase in insurance so the teachers will not take on that cost.
Extra Curricular wages were increased six percent and then rounded evenly.
Shuman said everything else was standard in the contract.
The contract is anticipated to be ratified by the Teachers Association and then by the Culver Community School Board during their November 6 meeting.
In other news, the corporation’s building project is nearly complete. The furniture for the Culver Elementary School library arrived and it is being installed, and construction crews will be working through next week to complete some exterior building work.
Some final punchlist items will be addressed over the next three weeks before the project is finalized.
Shuman said the project has experienced delays due to supply chain issues and the delay in obtaining cabinetry and furniture. However, the work that has been done has been a positive change for the students and staff. The bus entrance/exit on State Road 10 has alleviated some traffic congestion.
