Hamlet Town Council Updated on Unsafe Property

The Hamlet Town Council members were updated on an unsafe property during their recent meeting.

The town has been attempting to clean up the property at 101 Hamlet Street.  It was previously reported that the property was destroyed by a fire months ago and the property has been deemed unsafe as a result.  The town is working with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management.  Officials there have conducted an inspection and the town is waiting to hear back on what steps can be taken to work to get the property back to a good condition.

In other news, Clerk-Treasurer Kristina Pitts said the Hamlet Street Department is getting the leaf equipment ready for leaf pick-up this Fall.  Leaf pick-up is anticipated to begin November 1.

Meanwhile, equipment is being prepared for the winter season for snow removal, and cameras at the Hamlet Town Park have been upgraded due to trash being left behind from visitors there.
