Knox Board of Public Works Given Water Department Update

The Knox Board of Public Works were given an update from the Water Department during their meeting last week.

In a previous Knox City Council meeting, Mayor Dennis Estok announced that crews would be flushing fire hydrants and mentioned the process may result in some temporary discoloration in homeowner’s water. He explained when crews flush hydrants, iron can sometimes get stirred into the water due to the flushing. He stated letting your faucets run until the color clears is the proper step to take.

During the Knox Board of Public Works meeting last week, Water Department Superintendent Tim Lindewald informed the board they had completed the hydrant flushing for the year. He went on to say they winterized the Wythogan Park splash pad and the Nancy J. Dembowski Community Center’s sprinkler system in preparation for the winter season.
