Star City Man Arrested Following Pursuit

A Star City man was arrested in Winamac Friday, October 27 following a pursuit that originated in White County.

According to the Winamac Police Department, officers there were notified of a pursuit in progress with the White County Sheriff’s Office.  A suspect was reportedly operating a motorcycle and was traveling at a high rate of speed.  The pursuit was northbound on State Road 39 and later turned east toward Winamac.

A road block was set up by the Winamac Police Department but it was evaded, according to the report. Winamac officers assisted in the pursuit as it headed into Winamac. Police say the suspect wrecked his motorcycle on 11th Street just west of Monticello Street.

The suspect then fled on foot. The White County Sheriff’s Office used its K9 unit to track the suspect while other law enforcement units performed a search in the area.  A Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office deputy apprehended the suspect on Monticello Street north of Superior Street. 

Randy Keough, of Star City, was then turned over to the custody of the White County Sheriff’s Office.

The White County Sheriff’s Office, Winamac Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Francesville Police Department, Monon Police Department, and the Monticello Police Department were involved in this case.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
