City of Knox voters headed to the polls to cast ballots in the November Municipal General Election Tuesday.
In the contested races, for City of Knox Mayor, it was Incumbent Democrat Dennis Estok winning with 486 votes while Republican challenger Kay Gudeman received 209 votes.
The Knox City Council At-Large race found Incumbent Democrat Sherry L. Cowen winning the seat with 366 votes. Republican challenger Tona Miller had 305 votes.
The Knox City Council District 2 race found Republican challenger Travis A. Schieber winning the seat with 351 votes. Incumbent Democrat Ronald Parker received 317 votes.
The Knox City Council District 3 race found Incumbent Democrat Jeff V. Berg winning the seat with 388 votes while Republican challenger Linda J. Vannorman received 278 votes.
The Knox City Council District 4 race found Incumbent Democrat Bill Gustafson winning the seat with 365 votes. Republican challenger Austin Fletcher had 315 votes.
There were several uncontested races. They included Knox City Clerk-Treasurer Incumbent Democrat Cyndi Mann-Kidder, Knox City Judge Incumbent Republican Charles F. Hasnerl, and Knox City Council District 1 Incumbent Democrat Donald Kring. They will serve another four years in those positions.
Those are the unofficial results. Clerk Bernadette Welter-Manuel said five provisional ballots will be reviewed prior to the Starke County Election Board’s certification of the election Friday, November 17 at 1 p.m. CT.
There were 2,768 eligible registered voters for this election with 703 voters casting ballots. The Republican Party had 97 straight ticket votes and the Democrat party had 98 straight ticket votes.
