The second annual Community Services of Starke County Radiothon is set for tomorrow (Friday, November 10) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT on Kankakee Valley Broadcasting’s WKVI.
Executive Director Cindy Benke said the organization offers several programs for residents in the entire county including two senior nutrition sites in Knox and North Judson.
Benke commented, “Seniors 60 and older can get meals there for $3.00 and they’re gourmet meals. They’re wonderful. They also have several activities. We also have the food pantry which is available Monday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT. You just have to call for an appointment. We have also got two satellite sites now; one in North Judson and one in Hamlet. Those pick-ups are every third Monday of the month in North Judson, and in Hamlet every third Friday of the month.”
She noted they have public transportation available for residents, energy assistance programs, and a health equipment loan program. Overeaters Anonymous and Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) programs are offered on Thursdays.
Pledges made during the Radiothon will help sustain these programs and help provide other programs from which residents can benefit.
Benke said the goal is to raise $20,000. The phone number to call tomorrow to make that pledge is 574-772-6241 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. CT.
