Two Injured in Starke County Crash

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday, November 15 at the intersection of Toto Road and 300 E. in Knox at 5:12 p.m. CT. 

According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Office, an adult male driving a 2008 silver Pontiac was traveling south on 300 E. and disregarded the stop sign at Toto Road.  The driver pulled out in front of a black 2011 Chrysler driven by an adult female, according to the report.  The Chrysler struck the Pontiac at the intersection.

The female driver was transported to Northwest Health – Starke and then airlifted to a regional trauma center for her injuries. 

Police say the male driver failed field sobriety tests on scene and was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.  He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw and the results are pending, according to the report.  He was also evaluated by the ER doctor for his injuries in the crash.

Neither driver’s name was released by the Starke County Sheriff’s Office.

The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Bass Lake-California Township Fire Department, Knox-Center Township Fire Department, and Starke County EMS.
