Three people were arrested Monday, November 6 after Starke County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a Crime Stoppers tip regarding a suspect with an outstanding warrant.
Deputies went to the address for a warrant check in the 11100 East block of Division Road. Police say the suspect, 45-year-old Earl Avery of Mishawaka, surrendered from an overhead area in a dimly lit barn on the property after commands were given by deputies.
Another man was located in the overhead area and he allegedly gave police a false identity. The man was later identified as 44-year-old Jessie Howard of Elkhart who had outstanding warrants, according to the report.
Police say a woman was located hiding under the loft area in a dark corner. She allegedly gave a false name, but was later identified as 22-year-old Casey White of Elkhart who also had outstanding warrants.
During the incident, several items of drug paraphernalia were reportedly located along with a bag containing approximately 10.4 grams of a clear/white crystal/rock-like substance. This later field tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.
They were taken into custody and booked into the Starke County Justice Center.
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
