Winamac Town Council Considers Requests

The Winamac Town Council reviewed a request from the Winamac Police Department when they met earlier this week.

One officer has not been able to use all of his days off due to a staff shortage.  It was requested that he could be paid for that time or hold over those days until 2024. The council ultimately agreed to carry the unused days off to 2024.

Winamac Town Manager Brad Zellers said the sludge content at the lagoon was higher than expected.  The council previously approved a bid from Merrell Brothers, Inc. in the amount of $191,686 to manage and recycle bio-solids within the city’s lagoon at the town’s wastewater plant at 1950 South US Highway 35.  He said with the added labor, he asked the council to approve additional funding not to exceed $100,000 to complete the project, which was approved.
