2024 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Starke County Announced

The Starke County Community Foundation recently announced the recipient of the 2024 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Starke County.

Knox Community High School senior Emma Gillard is this year’s Starke County recipient. Emma is the daughter of James and Sarah Gillard and plans to study Biomedical Sciences after graduation. She is involved in student council, track and field, Science Club, National Honor Society, Honors Chamber Choir, and many more clubs and projects in which she has received several awards and honors. Emma has spent numerous hours volunteering with organizations such as Kankakee Valley REMC Junior Board of Directors, Hoosier Artisans Skills and Hobbyist County Extension Volunteer Club, as a tutor at Knox Elementary and High Schools, and Kid’s Closet.

Each Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship provides for full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment for four years. The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students leading to a baccalaureate degree at any eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university. Lilly Endowment Community Scholars may also participate in the Lilly Scholars Network, which connects both current scholars and alumni with resources and opportunities to be active leaders on their campuses and in their communities. Both the scholarship program and Lilly Scholars Network are supported by grants from Lilly Endowment to Independent Colleges of Indiana and Indiana Humanities.

The 2024 Starke County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship finalists include Rowen Jordan, Abrianna Austin, Bailee Radtke, and Reagan Danford who will receive $1,000 scholarships from the Starke County Community Foundation.
