Knox City Police Chief Announces Retirement

Knox City Police Chief Harold Smith announced his retirement to the Knox Board of Works members Wednesday morning.

He said January 1, 2024 will mark his 30th anniversary with the Knox City Police Department. Prior to arriving at the Knox City Police Department in 1994, he worked for five years at the North Judson Police Department.

He has been Knox City Police Chief for a total of 10 years.

He told the Board of Works members he put in for retirement and his retirement date will be January 23.

The Board of Works members congratulated and thanked Chief Smith for his years of service to the community. Chief Smith said if the department needs help he will fill in when needed.
