The Oregon-Davis School Board members approved Teacher Appreciation Grants during their meeting December 6.
Teachers who were rated as highly effective or rated as effective in the classroom for the 2022-2023 school received a stipend.
According to Superintendent Bill Bennett, after taxes, a teacher scoring highly effective received $661, while an effective teacher received $529.
For the 2022-2023 school year there were 28 employees who qualified for a stipend through the Teacher Appreciation Grant. Fifteen teachers were rated as highly effective, and 13 were rated as effective across the corporation. This year the corporation was awarded $18,784.11.
To be eligible, teachers must have taught at Oregon-Davis the previous year and received a rating of effective or highly effective on an evaluation for the 2022-2023 school year. Teachers rated highly effective receive 25 percent more than teachers rated as effective per state law and board policy. To qualify for payment out of this grant, teachers have to spend a minimum of 50 percent of their day with students.
Additionally, the board members unanimously approved a $750 stipend for all non-certified and administrative staff.
