A San Pierre man was arrested Tuesday, December 26 after deputies with the Starke County Sheriff’s Department were called to a residence in San Pierre just after 7 p.m. CT regarding a man threatening a person.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Auston Nasworthy, left the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
Police say Nasworthy demanded keys to the victim’s vehicle. After a brief verbal exchange, Nasworthy allegedly brandished a knife to the victim and demanded the keys to the vehicle. He then allegedly gave an ultimatum, stabbed a piece of furniture, and left the residence.
Officers observed Nasworthy walking on U.S. 421 near State Road 10 just before 10 p.m. CT the same day and he was taken into custody without incident. He was in possession of the knife he allegedly brandished to the victim, according to the report.
Nasworthy was arrested and booked into the Starke County Justice Center. Formal charges were filed by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office that included a Level 5 Felony count of intimidation and a Class A misdemeanor charge of intimidation.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
