Starke County Council Discusses 2nd Floor Remodeling Project at Courthouse

The Starke County Council discussed the remodeling of certain areas on the second floor of the courthouse during their meeting last week.

In a previous Starke County Commissioner meeting, the commissioners approved Keener Construction’s bid of $169,250 for the areas involved in the project. The commissioners also approved purchasing new office furniture during that same meeting. A bid of $12,039.37 from Kemp’s Office City was approved. The bid entailed new desks, conference tables, chairs, filing cabinets and other office furniture needed to bring the second floor of the courthouse up to date.

During the following commissioner’s meeting, Starke County Clerk Bernadette Manuel announced the areas involved with the project on the second floor had walls, trim and the conference room all painted. She added the project is moving along very well and invited the commissioners to stop by and visit the remodeling as it continues.

During last week’s council meeting, Council President Dave Pearman stated he had stopped by to visit the remodeling of the second floor at the courthouse. He said Keener Construction is doing a very good job at keeping the historical features within the updates. The remodeling is expected to be complete by the end of February.
