Traffic Stop in Starke County Leads to Arrest of Knox Man

A traffic stop conducted by Starke County Sheriff’s Department deputies Monday, December 4 resulted in the arrest of a Knox man.

Police say at 1:48 a.m. CT, a traffic stop was initiated in the 3500 block of 700 East. K9 Mack was deployed for a free air sniff and the K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle, according to the report.

Deputies conducted a vehicle search and they reportedly found approximately 13.64 grams of a gray substance that later field tested positive for heroin with fentanyl. Also reportedly found were 6.15 grams of a yellow/off-white substance that later field tested positive for cocaine, 1.94 grams of a clear/white/crystal/rock-like substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine, and approximately 43.24 grams of marijuana, along with suspected controlled substances and numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia.

As a result, 37-year-old Jordy Risner, of Knox, was arrested and booked into the Starke County Justice Center on preliminary charges of two counts of dealing in a narcotic drug as a Level 2 Felony, dealing in methamphetamine as a Level 3 Felony, possession of a narcotic drug as a Level 3 Felony, possession of a narcotic drug as a Level 4 Felony, possession of methamphetamine as a Level 5 Felony, two counts of possession of a controlled substance as a Level 6 Felony, and misdemeanor counts of possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Bond has been set at $10,000 cash.

Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
