Crash Claims Life of Knox Man

A three-vehicle accident Friday, January 12 claimed the life of a Knox man.

According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, emergency responders were called to a crash on U.S. 35 just north of 250 N. at about 7 a.m. CT. Police say the preliminary report shows that a vehicle driven by 70-year-old Roger Davidson of Knox was traveling south on U.S. 35 when his vehicle side-swiped a northbound vehicle driven by 19-year-old Alexis Schwanke of Knox. As a result, Davidson’s vehicle continued into the northbound lanes and struck a vehicle head on driven by 19-year-old Alberto Lopez of Knox, according to the report.

Davidson was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The next of kin has been notified.

Lopez was transported to the hospital for injuries. Schwanke was released at the scene with no injuries.

Police say road conditions were the preliminary cause of the crash, but it remains under investigation.

Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Starke County EMS, Knox-Center Township Fire Department, and Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department.
