Habitual Traffic Violator Arrested

Jacob Foldenauer

A man who passed several stopped cars due to an accident in La Porte County Friday, January 26 was arrested.

According to the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a personal injury crash involving a commercial motor vehicle and a box truck along U.S. 20 near Oak Knoll Road. As a result, officers closed the eastbound lanes for clean-up and traffic began to back up west of Oak Knoll Road.

As work continued, a deputy noticed a dark-colored passenger vehicle passing several stopped vehicles on the right. The vehicle continued to travel toward the officer along the unpaved outer shoulder of U.S. 20. Before the vehicle passed the officer’s squad car, the driver was instructed to stop.

The driver, identified as 35-year-old Jacob Foldenauer of Michigan City, was determined to be a habitual traffic violator.

Foldenauer was taken into custody and transported to the La Porte County Jail. He remains housed in the jail and is being held on a $755 cash bond through La Porte Circuit Court.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
