A Knox man was arrested Sunday, January 28 after officers from the Starke County Sheriff’s Office investigated an alleged domestic altercation.
Police say a search warrant was obtained for a residence in the 1000 East block of 150 South in Knox. At the time the search warrant was executed, 35-year-old Nickademous Fletcher was taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search warrant was obtained due to Fletcher’s criminal history and information given that firearms were allegedly in the residence. Deputies located a Glock 23 handgun, and a Bushmaster AR15 hidden behind a freezer in a garage, along with a Mosin Nagant WWII era rifle in the home, according to the report.
The Starke County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Starke County Drone Unit, K9 Mack, and Starke County EMS.
Fletcher is currently incarcerated at the Starke County Justice Center with preliminary felony charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and domestic battery with moderate bodily injury.
Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
