The North Judson Town Council members took action to approve a request from Thomas DeCola to vacate a platted, but undeveloped road.
A public hearing was opened where it was explained that the official request involved the vacation of Willow Street and Oak Street. The roads were never developed, but platted, and with DeCola’s plans to create a cul de sac with six lots in the area for possible future development requires the vacation of the roads. The property owners would split the property vacated.
There were property owners in attendance with specific questions as to the vacation of the roads, but there were no objections to the petition.
There is concern with utilities in the Willow Street area where any future developments would make it difficult to access mains and lines for any maintenance by the town’s utility employees.
In the end, the council unanimously approved the request to vacate Oak Street in that area, but denied the vacation of Willow Street.
The council will consider an ordinance pertaining to those actions at the next meeting January 15.
