The Point in Time (PIT) Count will take place in Pulaski County Wednesday, January 24.
Volunteers will come together to count the number of people experiencing homelessness. Organizations depend on an accurate PIT Count to receive adequate funding to ensure proper allocation of resources to address homelessness. The PIT Count is an annual count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless people across the United States on a single day in January.
Families and individuals who have relied on the township trustee, churches, or charities to help them stay housed month-to-month are asked to participate in the PIT Count. Persons facing eviction, who rely on couch surfing, or feel they are forced to reside in an unsafe space are encouraged to make their voices heard. Multiple families staying in a single residence – not by choice – are also asked to participate.
All individuals interested in participating in the PIT Count as volunteers or assisting with efforts related to homelessness and housing insecurity in Pulaski County are encouraged to attend a meeting Monday, January 22 at 10 a.m. ET at Pulaski County Human Services at 115 W. Pearl St. in Winamac.
