The Starke County Election Board members approved several resolutions when they recently met.
One resolution allows poll workers to be ages 16 and 17, but cannot hold the position of inspector at a Vote Center. Any Starke County students who are 16 or 17 years of age may contact the Starke County Clerk’s Office to learn how to become involved in the election process.
The board also approved a resolution that would allow a Travel Board official to assist a voter requesting that service with an absentee ballot application and to present the absentee ballot to the voter in the same visit. Along the same lines, a resolution was approved that would allow Travel Board members to travel to contiguous counties to help a resident vote who may be receiving temporary care or have temporary residence outside of Starke County.
A resolution was approved that would allow a Republican or Democrat convention delegate that is or is not opposed in the election to be able to work the polls on Election Day.
The Starke County Election Board meets every third Wednesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. CT in the second floor conference room in the Starke County Courthouse. February’s meeting will be held February 10.
