Driver Arrested in North Judson Pursuit

A driver was taken into custody after allegedly leading North Judson Police Department officers on a pursuit in the overnight hours Thursday, February 8.

According to the North Judson Police Department, an officer observed a vehicle drive off the roadway just before 2:20 a.m. CT. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop when the driver reportedly refused to stop.

The vehicle made its way to State Road 10 and sped eastbound, according to the report. The North Judson Police Department officer continued to pursue the vehicle and the driver allegedly committed multiple traffic infractions including driving eastbound in the westbound lane while turning off the vehicle’s lights.

Two deputies with the Starke County Sheriff’s Office set up a pair of tire deflation devices at 200 E. and the suspect’s vehicle ran over the devices. Police say the two front tires began to deflate, but the driver continued to travel eastbound on State Road 10 until the vehicle came to a stop just west of U.S. 35.

The driver, 31-year-old Julie Serrano of North Judson, was taken into custody and booked into the Starke County Justice Center on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and reckless driving.

Formal charges will be determined by the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
