The Eastern Pulaski School Board approved a resolution last week that addresses the Early Literacy Achievement Grant, according to Superintendent Dara Chezem.
“House Enrolled Act 1001 in 2023 set aside money for supplemental payment stipends to teachers for improving students foundational reading skills as evidenced in I-READ 3 data,” said Chezem. “The board appropriated those grant funds and allowed the necessary actions to distribute the grant by the end of March.”
The grant funds will be distributed to teachers Pre-K through third grade. The corporation received $28,693.70.
In addition to this grant money, Chezem said the corporation received an employer-sponsored child care grant from the state.
“Eastern Pulaski Community School Corporation received $100,000 toward expanding our on-site child care which will essentially create an endowment providing longevity and keep costs reasonable for our staff.”
Chezem said the board formally accepted that grant.
