The North Judson Town Council recently approved a person to fill the new role of town manager and a person to the utility supervisor position.
The council met in special session in January to approve an amended salary ordinance for 2024 which included the pay for the new positions of town manager and utility supervisor. The town council previously approved a four percent pay increase for the town employees in a meeting in December.
After unanimously approving the amended salary ordinance, the council officially named former utility superintendent, Joe Leszek, as the new town manager and Kim Kapp as the new utility supervisor. Both employees officially stepped into their new roles Thursday, February 1.
Leszek has since resigned as chief of the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department, a position he held there for over a decade. He will remain as a volunteer firefighter and will have a capacity of captain with the department. Todd Jackson was elected to succeed Leszek as chief. Both Leszek and Jackson were recognized for their efforts and new roles in an event held recently at the firehouse.
