The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single-vehicle fatality accident that occurred Monday, March 18 just before 4 a.m. CT in the area of County 1000 North and Frontage Road.
Police say a black 2012 Range Rover was traveling eastbound on County Road 1000 North when the vehicle left the south side of the roadway east of Frontage Road and traveled into a ditch. The vehicle continued traveling eastbound in the ditch, crashed into several trees, and overturned, according to the report.
The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The La Porte County Coroner is not releasing the identity of the driver at this time.
Toxicology tests are pending. The crash investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Springfield Township and Michiana Shores Volunteer Fire Departments and La Porte County EMS.
