North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department to Host New Event during Mint Festival

The North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department will be hosting a new event during this year’s Mint Festival.

Fire Chief Todd Jackson asked the North Judson Town Council last week if the department could host a golf cart/UTV poker run in place of the waterball fights.

Jackson said the sign-up will be the Saturday of the festival at 9 a.m. CT for $10 per cart with payouts for best hand and worst hand. There will be about 10 stops that send participants to different aspects of the festival and area businesses and attractions. Any other funds will be donated back to the Mint Festival. Hands will need to be returned by 1 p.m. CT. The start and finish would be at the North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Department.

Participants will have to follow rules and regulations surrounding the town’s golf cart ordinance. There will be liability waivers for participants to sign.

The North Judson Town Council members want participants to realize that UTVs are not typically allowed to be operated in the incorporated town limits, but they will allow the use of UTVs for this event only on that Saturday of the North Judson Mint Festival.

The poker run was approved by the council with a unanimous vote.
