Oregon-Davis School Board Approves Early Literacy Achievement Grant

The Oregon-Davis School Board members approved the Early Literacy Achievement Grant when they met last week.

The Indiana Department of Education’s Early Literacy Achievement Grant was established through House Enrolled Act 1001-2023 to reward schools and teachers for improving students’ foundational reading skills, as evidenced by IREAD-3 data.

Oregon-Davis School Corporation was awarded $17,899.81 and seven teachers were eligible to receive the funds who impacted the scores of the corporation’s students’ IREAD-3 scores. Funds will be distributed evenly.

The grant award amounts are determined based on the number of students who participated in IREAD-3 in 2023 and who achieved a passing score. The school’s complexity index was also a factor in the determination, as well as the school’s IREAD-3 passage rate growth, the number of eligible students receiving Special Education services in relation to its Average Daily Membership (ADM), the ADM count, and the school’s number of English learner students in relation to the ADM.
