A Starke County Sheriff’s Department patrol car and a Starke County chase vehicle were involved in a collision while responding to a traffic accident involving personal injuries Monday, March 4.
According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, deputies, Starke County EMS and fire crews were called to the area of Division Road and 1100 E. around 11:30 a.m. CT for a traffic accident involving personal injuries.
The driver of a 2009 Ford Taurus, 49-year-old Misty McGowan of Plymouth, was traveling east on Division Road when a tire blew which caused her vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree, according to the report. Police say she was out of the vehicle upon the arrival of emergency responders and then later transported to the hospital for a complaint of pain in her hip/lower leg region.
Indiana State Police troopers say during the response, a Starke County Sheriff’s Department patrol car and a Starke County chase vehicle were involved in a rear-end collision. Both individuals, Ashley VanDeMark and Brandy Salita, were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and released.
The accident remains under investigation.
