The Starke County Election Board and the Pulaski County Election Board members will be hosting public tests of voting machines.
The board members conduct the public tests in their respective counties to ensure election equipment is properly programmed and functioning ahead of the election.
A percentage of voting machines from each county’s inventory is tested during the public test. The voting machines to be tested are chosen by VSTOP (Voting System Technical Oversight Program) officials and are randomly selected. A select number of Verified Voter Paper Audit Trail printers will also be tested to ensure proper function.
The machines will be tested with each candidate receiving at least one vote on ballots. When the test is complete, the machines will be reset to zero and are locked and stored until election day.
The public test in Starke County is set for Monday, April 1 at 2 p.m. CT in the second floor conference room in the Starke County Courthouse. The public test in Pulaski County is Wednesday, April 3 at 10 a.m. ET at the Pulaski County Highway Garage. Any member of the public is welcome to attend to view the process.
