Two Injured in Starke County Crash

Two people were injured in an accident Tuesday, March 26 at 5 a.m. CT in the area of U.S. 30 and 1100 E. in Starke County.

According to the Starke County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the accident where a pickup truck was rear-ended by a semi tractor-trailer.

The pickup, driven by Ernest Bridwell of Walkerton, was turning left on U.S. 30 eastbound from 1100 E. and pulled out in front of a loaded semi causing damage to both vehicles, according to the report.

The semi was driven by Mark Johnson of Ohio and was pulling a load of scrap tires.

Bridwell was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Johnson was transported to Northwest Health Starke for non-life-threatening injuries.

The eastbound lanes were closed for a short time for clean-up.

The Starke County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Koontz Lake-Oregon Township Fire Department, Hamlet-Davis Township Fire Department, and Starke County EMS.
