The Winamac Town Council members were updated on the demolition of the silos on Logan Street during their most recent meeting.
The structures were deemed a blight and the town was awarded a Blight Elimination Grant to assist with the cost to demolish the silos. Town Manager Brad Zellers previously stated that Jackson Demolition Services was awarded the demolition bid in August 2023 at a cost of $235,000.
Zellers said the contractor was on site and has demolished the silos. Clean-up from the demolition is ongoing.
As part of the grant agreement, Zellers said the Town of Winamac must leave that area a green space for at least five years before plans can be made for any improvements there.
